What an amazing place for date night. I went with the Chicken 65 which was pleasantly spicy but not as flavorful as the last time we visited. The rice that comes with it is good and definitely compliments the dish. You definitely have to get the naan bread appetizer because the cheese and garlic Naan are the bomb. I had to flag the waiter down multiple times just to get him to stop talking to the bartender so I can get my drink refilled but for the most part it's a decent place or some great food.
Best Indian restaurant I have ever been too. Service was excellent, food was amazing, and prices were reasonable. Beautiful decor, but laid back atmosphere. Definitely will return.
The best Indian food I've ever had, we had the butter chicken, biryani rice, garlic chicken and naan bread. To die for!! The Indian lager beer was also really good. The service was amazing and my water was never empty. The mango drink is also delicious. Super cute vibe too, it feels very upscale. 10/10, would recommend going!!
Naan at Northwoods is an authentic Indian restaurant that opened in North Charleston, South Carolina in May 2023. It was founded by business partners which include husband and wife Atith and Seshu Kotcherlakota, husband and wife Sharth and Swetha Gudla, and chef Pulkit Chawala. Around 2010, the Kotcherlakotas and Gudlas (all first generation Indians) moved to the Savannah, Georgia area for career opportunities. Unfortunately, the area was lacking authentic Indian fare. They decided to go into business together and open their own restaurant where they could exhibit the diversity in Indian cuisine through its flavorful & indulgent food. They opened Naan Appetit in Pooler in April 2015. A second location, Naan on Broughton, opened in Savannah in 2017. In recent years, the partners decided to branch out to the Greater Charleston area. Naan at Northwoods opened in May 2023, followed by Naan at Mt. Pleasant in October 2024. My wife and I visited Naan at Northwoods for dinner this past summer while we were visiting family in town. We were looking for some good Indian food in the area, and Naan at Northwoods was highly recommended. For cocktails, I had a "Piña Colada" (white rum, coconut cream, pineapple juice) while my wife had a "Cosmopolitan" (citrus vodka, countreau, lime juice, cranberry juice). For breads, we ordered and shared the "Onion Kulcha" (stuffed-onion & cilantro) and "Basil Garlic Naan". For entrees, I had the "House Special Shrimp Curry" (shrimp tossed in curry leaf and cooked with house sauce) while my wife had the "Chicken-65 Biryani" (basmati rice layered with whole spices & topped with chicken-65, fried onion, cilantro & saffron). Everything was absolutely delicious; it really hit the spot! We also really liked all of the decor, and the staff were so friendly and helpful! We both give Naan at Northwoods our seal of approval!
Naan has become one of our favorite restaurants in Charleston! Every single time we have been, the service has been amazing! The waiters are all very friendly and kind, they will give you suggestions if you are not sure what to order. The restaurant has a very modern vibe. The lighting and style of decor is unique and cool while still inviting and comfortable. My daughters and I went for lunch and had delicious meals. We were so impressed with the variety on the lunch buffet, but decided to stick with what we already knew they loved. The butter chicken, house fried rice with chicken and the variety basket of naan bread are their favorites. When out for a date night, my husband and I, who are more adventurous tried several other items that we were excited about. We can't wait to go back!
My husband and I don't go on as many dates as we used to, but we ventured to Naan at Northwoods on Labor Day. We were both off work on the same day, which is rare, and both in town (also rare). We love Indian food and have had a lot of it, but have spent time in India to know if it's authentic. We started out with the pakora onion appetizer and ordered three dishes- the Malai Kofta, Baingan Bharta, and Spinach Dal. The Pakora Onion/Veggies appetizer is almost like an Indian version of the thin onion straws that are fried. We didn't have any drinks but I feel like this would be a good app to have with drinks. The entrees were great. I've had Baingan Bharta (baked eggplant , mashed with mustard, onions and tomatoes) at several Indian restaurants and this one was delicious. The Spinach Dal (lentils cooked with spinach and tempered with mustard and cumin) had just the right amount of spice. Everything can be made mild, medium, or spicy, and we usually opt for medium. I liked the Malai Kofta (potato cheese veg dumpling simmered in rich onion and tomato gravy, tempered with cumin) BUT it only comes with four of the fried dumplings. The sauce was great with the garlic naan, but we could have used more dumplings. Still, all of our selections were a GREAT value and portion size for the price. Most of all, I liked the atmosphere at Naan at Northwoods over other local Indian restaurants. Some of the others that we have visited are dated, but the décor here is beautiful and fancy. I loved looking up at the lighting fixtures. The food is on point here, but also, it's just a nice place for a night out. The service was good, and we arrived right at 5PM when they reopen for dinner (the restaurant closes from 3-5 between services). By the time we finished our meal, most all of the tables were occupied. I'm glad to see Naan at Northwoods doing well, especially on a holiday that I don't normally associate with Indian food. I would love to come back here on a double or triple date and try more options. The menu is huge so if you want to be adventurous, you won't get bored eating here.
Oooo I've been meaning to try Naan at Northwoods for a minute now and finally got around to it. They offer either a menu or lunch buffet for $21 per person. We wanted to try a little bit of all so went with the buffet option. No matter what you get, it'll be nutritious, flavorful, and a delight to the tastebuds. If spice is your thing, be on the lookout for "hot". The dessert trays at the end are worth a sample for sure as well. Tasteful decor and service was attentive, friendly.
Came here for lunch, didn't know they had a buffet but we went for it. Very clean, and nicely decorated and bright place. They had a lot of different options but I enjoyed the tikka masala and all the others were good as well. Nothing was very spicy and I like spice, I think they are reluctant to make it too spicy for everyone to enjoy. I was very full when I was done, ate too much because everything was flavorful. It came out to about $37 for both of us so I thought that was a good price. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would suggest this place to anyone who wants to try authentic Indian food or if it's their first time.
This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the tricounty area! The lunch buffet $17.50, is always worth it with genuine, rich Northern and Southern Indian cuisine. The buffet is almost always changing with a few mainstays like fresh naan, butter chicken, chicken tandoori, saffron rice . There's also many vegetarian and vegan options available and I have not been disappointed yet in the over 40 times I've eaten there since they opened early last year.
You need to go here! Fantastic, delicious food. Very flavorful. Great service. The best part- ta-da- the naan! Wow!!! Hot from the tandoori, freshly made naan that was soft and delicious. Very reasonably priced at $3+ I ordered a mocktail- a strawberry daiquiri, which was huge and only $7.99. I'll be back for the drinks alone!!! The menu is comprehensive and almost all the main stream Indian menu items are available. I ordered chicken 65 which was great. It was spicy but edible for me. Each chicken piece was soft, which is often not the case in other establishments. I also had the aloo gobi, or potatoes with cauliflower. I absolutely loved it. This place is awesome with fantastic service. The pricing is on point. I'm so excited to learn a branch is opening in Mount Pleasant in a few months. I can't wait!!! You have to try this place out!
